alloy 601 is a nickel-chromium based super alloy that provides excellent resistance to heat and oxidation, while also possessing excellent corrosion resistant properties in most environments. It is highly used in a variety of applications, including chemical, petrochemical and power plant equipment.

The substantial nickel and chromium contents of alloy 601 in conjunction with its content of aluminum provide superior resistance to high temperature corrosion mechanisms, particularly oxide spalling. Moreover, the tightly adherent oxide scale developed during cyclic oxidation protects against spalling even under severe thermal cycling.

This makes alloy 601 an ideal choice for furnace components, exhaust systems and other high temperature components where a high degree of oxidation resistance is required. It also has a good level of ductility after long service exposure.

Inconel 601 Flat Bar is a nickel-chromium alloy that develops a tightly adherent oxide scale during oxidation to prevent spalling, especially at temperatures up to 2200degF (1200degC). The alloy has good high temperature strength, and retains its ductility after long service exposure.

In addition, the chromium and aluminum contents of alloy 601 can provide excellent resistance to oxidation in a wide range of corrosive atmospheres. It can withstand both oxidizing and reducing acids, as well as mixed acid solutions.

In addition to this, it has a low phosphorus content, which means that it can be readily formed and machined by standard methods. Its tensile and yield strengths are comparable to those of stainless steel, and it has good cold workability. It is also a nonmagnetic alloy and can be welded to a variety of weldable metals.
